A tour "Final Journey of T.H.Shevchenko" will be arranged on the eve of the 150th anniversary of reburial of Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine.
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informed about the first meeting of the working group in charge of organization of the tour "Final Journey of T.H.Shevchenko" which was held at the Parliament that day.
According to M.Tomenko, the tour "Final Journey of T.H.Shevchenko" dedicated to life and creative work of Taras Shevchenko will take place on May 18-23, 2011 on the itinerary of Saint Petersburg Kaniv on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of reburial of Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine. The tour was initiated by the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS member states.
During the tour, the delegation will follow the itinerary of the funeral procession with the poet´s body in the year 1841, when it returned to Ukraine. On May 18, delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of CIS member states will leave Saint Petersburg for Tver, Moscow, Tula and Orel. In the territory of Ukraine, the delegation will attend the requiem masses in the towns of Hluhiv and Baturyn. On visiting Nizhyn on May 21, the delegation will arrive to Kyiv to attend the prayer service in the Church of Nativity of Christ in Podil district in Kyiv. On May 22, the delegation will head for Kaniv to attend the commemoration events and the requiem mass on the grave of Taras Shevchenko on Chernecha Mountain.
